ST 46 NE BROCKLEY CHELVEY BATCH (west side)

Barn and stable, now a garage and workshop. C17 or earlier, altered early C19
and C20. Rubble with ashlar buttresses and dressings; pantile roof; re-used d
mediaeval pinnacle and finial on the gables; brick stack on north-east corner.
The east gable end has a studded door with strap hinges which have open scroll
ends; tooled ashlar surrond with imposts and a 4-centred head. The south
elevation has two 3-light cross windows with triangular heads to the lights;
under a hoodmould. Central buttress with offsets to the left of which is a
blocked doorway with a 4-centred head. Single storey former stable adjoins to
west. West gable end has a quatrefoil window.
