10/117 Ivy Cottage



House. Early c17, restored 1898. Rubble limestone, ashlar right return and
rear; Welsh slate roof. 2 storeys, 5 windows to 1st floor; single-storey wing
to left of centre on entrance front. Low addition to left return. Large quoins.
4-panel door to right of centre has initials and restoration date on lintel.
Flanking 2-light mullioned windows have recessed,chamfered surrounds of C19 date,
old blocked window to right of door. Door to far left has restored 2-light window
over. 2-light, 3-light and 4-light windows to rest of 1st floor including one
unrestored 2-light surround now blocked. Shaped kneelers, gable copings. Renewed
brick end stack to right, matching ridge stack to left of centre. Rear: ashlar
facade with chamfered plinth and position of Tudor-arched door below ridge
stack. Remains of double-chamfered windows now altered or blocked.

Present rear elevation formed original entrance front. The use of ashlar is
unusual in the vernacular buildings of the village.
