Two pairs of gate piers with linking wall on north side of churchyard at church of St. Mary

Churchyard gatepiers and linking wall. Probably c1700, eastern gatepiers rebuilt. Red brick with ashlar dressings. Two pairs of gatepiers, western pair set to north of tower and adjacent to Church Cottage (q.v.), the other pair to north of the chancel; low linking wall encloses north side of churchyard of Church of St. Mary (q.v.). Western gatepiers: brick panels each with a square pier rising from an ashlar block, small consoles to each on inner side, a large console on outer side of left (eastern) pier; cornices and obelisk finials. Low wall with chamfered copings links to eastern piers which retain similarly detailed ashlar dressings on brick panels of later date.
