No 1 including No 31, Bridge Street (formerly listed as No 1)

House now offices, commercial premises and 4 flats. Mid-late C18, Red
brick in Flemish bond, Welsh slate roof. 3 storeys, 5 bays, double-depth
plan with wing to rear right (forming part of No 31 Bridge Street). Cement-
rendered plinth, rusticated quoins. Stone steps and columned wooden porch to
central 6-panelled door with overlight. Flanking bays have nosed stone
sills to C20 casements beneath painted flat arches with projecting keystones.
1st floor: plain sashes in surrounds as ground floor; shorter sashes to 2nd
floor. Eaves cornice and ashlar gable copings; brick end stacks set to rear
of ridge in valley. Right return: corniced C19
doorcase (to No 31 Bridge Street) flanked by shallow canted-bay windows;
windows over in style as front (some altered); gables linked by flat-topped
parapet.
Interior: chequered marble floor in entrance hall with round-arched doorway
through to staircase with turned balusters and fielded panel dado rising 3
storeys .
