Group of 4 houses. 1908. By Percy Houfton for the Brodsworth Colliery
Company. Red brick, partly roughcast; later cement-tile roof. 2 storeys,
1 : 1 : 2 : 1 : 1 windows to 1st floor, near-symmetrical composition with end
houses in gabled cross-wings. Wooden casements with glazing bars throughout.
No. 2 (on left): part-glazed panelled door beneath canopy on scrolled
brackets to left of 4-light window with dentilled cornice; 4-light window to
1st floor has tile dripmould beneath gable with a pair of slit vents under a
cornice. No. 8 has later door otherwise the same but handed. No. 4, set
back to left of centre, has door flanked by 3-light window on left and
windows of 1 and 3 lights on right; two 3-light windows to 1st floor.
No. 6 has lower ground-floor windows including later casement to right of
door. Central ist-floor windows are set beneath a gable. Swept eaves.
3 corniced ridge stacks. Part of Woodlands colliery village (see under
Church of All Saints, Central Avenue).
