Group of 4 houses. 1907-8, partly altered. By Percy Houfton for the
Brodsworth Colliery Company. Roughcast, later cement-tile roof. 2 storeys,
2 : 4 : 2 windows to 1st floor; near-symmetrical composition with gabled end
houses. Wooden casements with glazing bars to all original windows.
No. 7 (on left): boarded door under canopy on carried brackets flanked by
3-light windows an each floor, those to 1st floor beneath tile dripcourse
across gable. No. 8 (adjacent): added porch and altered ground-floor windows
beneath 2 original 3-light windows. No. 9 original doorway and original
3-light window to 1st-floor right, otherwise altered openings.
No. 10: generally as No. 7 but with broader gable sweeping down on right and
with no end gable on right return. Three rendered ridge stacks with
dentilled cornices, lateral stack on right return, (left end stack removed).
Part of the 1st phase of Woodlands colliery village (see under Church of All
Saints, Central Avenue).
