5 metres to west
of Hoyles Farmhouse.

Barn. Probably C17. Cruck framed, coursed gritstone rubble, C20 tiled
roof. Single storey and loft. 3½ bays with single aisle interrupted by
cart entrance set to right of centre. Large boarded cart doors set
beneath wall plate. Plain wall to right aisled outshut, a harr-hung
cowhousedoor in its left return. Aisled outshut to left has cowhouse
doors with quoined reveals. Rear: opposed cart entrance now blocked, 3
triangular vents to left. Interior: 4 massive and well finished cruck
pairs set on padstones. Wall-plate tie beams. Windbraces to single
purlins, additional purlin to aisle. Collars beneath diagonal-set ridge
except right end truss which has crossed apex.
