Village school and school house, now all a primary school. 1860 by James Wilson
of Bath. Coursed, squared rubble with freestone dressings; slate roof; rubble
and ashlar stacks. In an early Gothic style. Single storey school room to
left of 5 bays, the end 2 in a projecting gabled wing which has a clock and an
elaborate, octagonal turret supported on corbels and surmounted by an ashlar
spire. 3-light trefoil headed and stepped lancet windows; the 3 to the right
have gables with quatrefoils. To the left is the former school house as a
2 storey, projecting, gabled wing; 1:2:1-light canted bay window with a pierced
quatrefoil parapet on the ground floor; 3-light window above. In the re-
entrant angle is a gabled porch; pointed and chamfered ashlar doorway, plank
door with strap hinges. A similar porch is setback to the right; later C19,
2 bay single storey extension to far left.
