Public House. Dated 1804. Coursed, squared sandstone, gritstone dressings,
Welsh slate roof. Symmetrical. 2 storeys and attic with half-basement
giving 3-storey elevation. Each elevation has 3 bays with projecting
chamfered quoins, plain architraves and bands to each floor level.
Entrance gable front has plain door surround with sash to each side.
3 sashes to first floor with attic floor lit by central sash and flanking
circular sashed openings. A further circular blind architrave to apex
surmounted by corniced ashlar stack. Rear : similar attic windows but all
blind, similar stack. Right return : 3 storeys. Plaque with Latin
inscription signed Thomas Halliday 1804 beneath ground floor band; modillioned
cornice to eaves; two further equispaced stacks to ridge.
