GV II

Two houses with linking range including cart-shed. Partly mid C18
(altered); partly early C19. Deeply-coursed sandstone, stone slate
roofs. Elongated L-shaped range: Kennels House forms one limb; the
other limb formed by additions to front left which include a 6-bay
cart-shed arcade and terminate with another house. 2 storeys.
Kennels House: three 1st-floor windows. Central panelled door in
flat-roofed, wood porch; flanking windows have renewed casements
with glazing bars without surrounds. Blocked, quoined doorway
to each end. 1st-floor windows as ground floor. Shaped kneelers,
ashlar gable copings. Stone end stacks. Wing to front left of several
later builds now refenestrated with C20 casements with glazing bars.
Wing immediately adjacent to Kennels House is taller and has end stack;
lower range with 2 doors and 5 ground-floor windows forms link to cart-
shed. Cart-shed: 6 basket-arched openings with right archway forming
passage through to rear. Dressed-stone piers and voussoirs, outer
archways wider and with boarded doors, casement window over left arch,
others under boarded hatches. House forming end of range: two 1st-floor
windows (excluding window over adjacent arch). Door in glazed porch;
flanking windows with projecting sills, lintels tooled as voussoirs;
end stacks. Wing to rear of cart-shed range not of special interest.
Buildings to left connected by garden wall and also known as The Kennels
are not included in item.
