Bridge and Weir at west end of Morley Pond
(formerly listed as Bridge west of the Cascade)

II

Bridge and associated weir, partly in Rotherham parish. Late C18
for the Wentworth estate. Coursed, dressed sandstone. Single span;
attached retaining walls and weir to rear. Segmental arch with rock-
faced voussoirs and upward-projecting keystone. Spandrels infilled
with radial-jointed, tooled wallstone. Flanking, square, projecting
piers linked by band. Chamfered copings to parapet. 3 wing walls
sweep round to terminate at circular piers; one wing wall straight;
domed coping. Rear: curved, battered retaining walls of rock-faced
sandstone ramp up to small curved weir.
