Large house now clubhouse. 'HWA/1684' on recut datestone over entrance, later
additions and alterations. Deeply-coursed, dressed red sandstone; stone slate
roof partially replaced by C20 cement tiles. U-shaped plan, the main wings
projecting forward, 2 added wings to rear right. 2 storeys with attic, 5 windows
to 1st floor. Large quoins. Most windows have original double-chamfered openings
some cemented and now with casements with glazing bars. C20 single-storey entrance
lobby infills space between wings: C20 door beneath recut datestone and flanked by
3-light casements, flat roof. Main range has 3-light mullioned window to 1st floor
and 2-light attic window with dripmould beneath gable with roll-moulded copings.
Wing to right has 2 single-light windows to each floor, continuous dripmoulds;
shared hoodmould to attic windows. Gable copings return as side-wall parapet
copings. Ashlar end stack with tabling. Wing to left similar but with enlarged
ground-floor windows. Inner returns of each wing: rendered and with single-light
and 3-light mullioned windows. Cavetto-moulded copings and end stacks to main
range, ridge stack to right of centre. Right return: chamfered, quoined doorway
into wing, flanking windows enlarged; 3-light windows to 1st floor. Gable end
of main range has 2-light attic window with hoodmould. Wing to rear of later
date, has 3-light square-faced mullioned window, the central light formerly round-
headed. Left-return: inserted round-arched doorway with archivolt.
Interior: much altered. Bolection-moulded fireplace in front left room. Splat
balusters to left attic stairs. Principal-rafter trusses exposed in attic.
