Commemorative clock. 1912, re-erected on present site 1969. Mechanism by
John Mason of Rotherham, frame by Macfarlane of Glasgow; for James Hastings.
Cast-iron. Tapered, offset, octagonal plinth with attached troughs; quatrefoil-
decorated band, gablets above side panels inscribed:
'TO COMMEMORATE THE / CORONATION OF / KING GEORGE V / AND / QUEEN MARY'
'PRESENTED BY / JAMES HASTINGS / OF ROTHERHAM'.
Quatrefoil column with 4 pendant lights on decorative brackets and elaborate
capital. Square clock with finialled cornice, surmounted by openwork corona.
Originally sited in Effingham Square. Replica of a clock in Douglas, Isle of Man.
