Stable-block with remains of attached barn. Dated 1702 and 1705. For John
Mirfin of Slade Hooton Hall. Coursed, square limestone, Welsh slate and
pantile roofs. 2-storey, 3-bay stable-block with 2-storey barn attached to
rear-right of which only two bays survive. Stable-block: chamfered ashlar
quoins. Doorway on right with bolection-moulded architrave beneath 2-light
mullioned overlight in square-faced surround. Inserted garage doors to left
of centre, with cross window in raised ashlar surround on left. Central
keyed oculus with keystones inscribed 'I. M. / 17 / 02'. Large, voluted
kneelers and moulded gable copings. Right return: window with square-faced
surround on left; inserted window to right; gable oculus. Attached barn on
right has quoined segmentally-arched waggon entrance with later opening on
left beneath 1st-floor hatch with arched lintel; right part of barn
demolished. Rear of barn opposing waggon entrance has keystone inscribed
'I. M. / 1705'; external steps rise on right to door in rear of stable block.
