Pair of grave stones to the Bower family situated approximately 10 metres to south of nave of Church of St. Alban

Pair of grave stones. c1714. Red sandstone. Raised rectangular slab with
additional slab at its foot. Fine inscriptions to Sarah, daughter of John
Bower, d 1714 aged 18; also to son Benjamin, d 1718 aged 16 and wife
Elizabeth, d 1718 aged 60; the inscriptions are set beneath a rope-moulded
arch with florets and scale ornament in the spandrels, side panels of
stylised sinuous foliage. At the foot is a plain slab to John Bower himself
who died in 1737 aged 65. Good example of its kind.
