Built by Robert and Susan Dean in 1605 and extended in 1620. Coursed sandstone and
gritstone hall relating to the Halifax type. Irregular triple-gabled front of
2 storeys. Apex, valley and kneelers finials, stone gutter spouts. Chamfered
mullion, and mullion and transome windows. Continuous weathered string over ground
floor raised up over lintel of 4 centred arched doorway. The left hand gable has a
carved stone panel inscribed 1605 with initials R D over S and the cross of the
Knights of St John of Jerusalem. The right hand gable has a stone sundial inscribed
R 1620 D. Stone slate roofs.
