Sams Mill by Middle Brook
SE 13 SW 8/1274


Circa 1820-30 rebuild of earlier water mill. L plan, 3-storeys built of thin
sandstone "bricks". Some slate roofs with corbelled eaves. West range has coped
gable ends. Small lunettes flank round headed hatchway in south gable. Single
and 2-storey outskirts on south side with squared jamb windows. The east gable
end has 2 small round headed lights (the heads cut out of one block) set below and
to sides of central windows in gable. The mill retains its housed undershot wheel
and gearing.
