Circa 1850-55 stepped terrace of small 2-storey sandstone "brick" houses matching
terrace on opposite side of cobbled street. Ashlar plinths and first floor sill bands
swept up steps. Shallow flat eaves. Slate roofs with corniced chimneys. Two windows
each, revealed sashes, thin lintels; doors of 4 moulded panels, rectangular fanlights,
flanked by painted ashlar Tuscan pilasters, entablatures with projecting cornices and
shallow, panelled, pedimented blocking courses with rounded antifixae. Included
as an intact example of small scale streetscape of the period.
