HIGH STREET (north side)
No 162 (The former Windmill Inn)

(Formerly listed as No 162 (The Windmill Inn)

II
Wibsey windmill was built in 1682 and demolished in 1838. The former inn is partly of circa 1840-50. re the taller hipped roof rear part. The lower front block at right angle to road is of sandstone "brick" with flush quoins, probably a rebuild in the latter part of the C18, but with a mid C19 hipped slate roof. Three window plain east front with central doorway. Two-light square mullion windows to road and to west wing. The circa 1840-50 extension has architrave framed windows on both floors and hipped slate roof. The fore building was probably part of the millers house.
