Circa 1865-70 wool warehouse and offices on corner site with Carroll Street.
Four storeys, basement and attic. Sandstone ashlar to 6 bay front, splayed corner and
2 bays of return with the rest in stone "brick". Modified classical detailing. The
ground floor has very grooved rustication and shallow moulded cornice over. Rusticated
quoin pilasters to upper floors. A moulded cornice runs beneath the attic storey.
This is contained in a full width gable, raised over the centre 3 bays with supporting
scrolls and segmental moulded capping. Round headed attic windows and large, acanthus
scroll wreathed plaque above. Shallow revealed sashes to rest of upper floors with
shallow lintels. Ground floor has round headed windows with rustication struck
into arches. Pilaster framed corner doorway with Doric entablature. The door
itself has panelled pilaster jambs decorated with acanthus leaf ornament. Blind
tympanum of archivolt arch has relief carving of a cock in scrolled leaf surround,
and the arch is inscribed "Surgite Lumen Adest". Waggon archway at 2 storey end
