Pair of cottages (or 4 back-to-backs), extended to form works, now unoccupied.
Early-mid C19, of 2 builds. Coursed squared stone, stone slate roof. 2 and 4 storeys,
5 bays. Road front: 3 older 2-storey bays set back on right have a 2-light mullion
window on each floor of each bay except for single-light window to centre of ground
floor in formerly wider opening, lst-floor mullions removed; square-section stone gutter
brackets; right gable, abutting No 25 (qv) has raised verge, coping, and stacks to ridge
and front roof pitch. Two right bays:heightened and extended forward; of thinner coursed
stone above 1st floor; wide doorway with monolithic lintel and C20 garage doors on left;
on right,window and board door in stone surround with tie-stones; two 2-light windows
to each floor above, except for lst-floor, right, which has 1-light window over blocked
window (or in former doorway); gutter brackets as before; ashlar coping. Rear: plinth;
on ground floor, window, door, window, door, window with 5 windows above, all having
stone lintels and projecting cills, the doors converted to windows; paired gutter brackets;
coping. 4-storey part rises behind at right end, and projects on right forming an acute
angle with recessed entrance. Left return: 4-storey part has 2-light windows to 1st
and 2nd floors; 1-light window to gable.
