Pair of houses, now one. Late C18 - early C19, access altered mid C19. Coursed
stone, ashlar dressings, stone slate roof. 2 storeys with attic, original access
in south front. Gabled east (main) front: 2 bays, symmetrical facade. Raised
quoins, first-floor band. Two 2-light windows with 4-pane sashes to ground and
first floors; Venetian window to attic, outer lights blocked. C19 doorway inserted
to left of right ground-floor window has 3-panel door, overlight and wooden doorcase
with console cornice. Stack to rear gable. Rear: on left a C19 plain stone
surround doorway; a 3-light window to attic; other inserted windows. Left return,
original entrance front: raised quoins, first-floor band. To each end a blocked
doorway, left doorway having a 2-light window to right on each floor; openings have
raised plain stone surrounds, the windows with flat-faced mullions. Formerly a
pub, but probably originally associated with the mill to the south-east, the east
front facing the public thoroughfare, the south front into the mill yard.
