Row of 3 shops, probably originally back-to-back dwellings.
Early C19, with C20 alterations. Coursed squared stone with
ashlar dressings. Stone slate roof with 3 stone stacks.
Wharf Street front, 2 storey, 3 windows. 46 has a doorway with
painted ashlar surround to left of wooden shop front with
pilasters supporting a fascia board. 42 and 44 have shop
fronts c1970. Above a 2-light flush mullion window, with 2
plain sashes, to each shop. Shaped gutter brackets on moulded
table.
Rear, St Anns Square front, 3 storey, 3 windows. All openings
have flush ashlar surrounds, and all windows have flush
mullions. Ground floor has 3 doorways, that to 42 blocked,
each with a 3-light window to the left, those to 42 and 44
blocked. Above 2 loft doorways to 42 and 44, both blocked, and
each has a blocked 3-light window to left. 46 has a 3-light
window. Above again 42 has a 5-light casement, 44 has a
3-light casement and 46 has a former 3-light window, with one
mullion removed.

Row of 3 shops now 2, with rear under-dwellings (unoccupied) and probably,
originally, 2 back-to-back dwellings. Early C19. Coursed squared stone, stone
slate roof. 2 storeys onto Wharf Street with basement at rear; 3 bays. No 40
(Guys Boutique) has a doorway with plain stone surround to left of early C20 shop
window with wooden pilasters supporting fascia. Nos 42 and 44 (Khangura Bros.
Supermarket) have a c1970 shop front with 2 doors. On 1st floor a 2-light flat-
faced mullion window with sashes to each bay. Shaped gutter brackets on moulded
table. Large ridge stack to right of each bay. Rear: openings have plain stone
surrounds, the windows with flat-faced mullions. On basement floor each bay has
a door (giving access to under-dwelling) to right of a 3-light window, all openings
blocked except central door. On lst floor, right-hand bay has a 3-light window,
the other bays a blocked door (probably originally giving access from a gallery
to back-to-back dwellings) to right of a blocked 3-light window. On 2nd floor
a 4-light window to left bay, a 3-light window to central bay and same to right
bay with window inserted to its left. Interior not inspected.
