Pair of small houses, Newlands now divided into flats.
Early/mid C19, some late C20 modernisation. Stucco and
roughcast on stone rubble; end stacks with brick
chimneyshafts; slate roof.
PLAN: Both are one room wide, one room deep.
EXTERIOR: 3 storeys; 2-window front. No.10 has plastered
front, a 16-pane sash to left on each floor and narrow
4/6-pane sash first-floor right over the doorway. Newlands has
16-pane sashes to right with 4/8-pane sash to second floor and
a tiny light to left at about second-floor level. Both houses
have a plain timber cornice at first-floor level and both
doorways contain late C20 part-glazed doors. Plain eaves and
gable-ended roof.
INTERIOR: Not inspected but likely to be of interest.
Originally back cottages to Nos 11 and 12 Market Square (qv).
Form part of a group in a narrow backstreet close to the
Market Square.
