GV II*

A very good example of a small early C16 cottage with an open
hall and original aisle to north. Substantial timber frame of
two bays with thatched roof hipped to east and extended as an
outshut over service bay. Service bay recently extended. Brick
chimney dated 1676 on carved brick built independently of west
gable wall. South facing elevation has two dormer windows and
two, three-light C19 casement windows with geometric glazing
bars. C20 oak door. Brick nogging in timber frame at ground
floor. Interior has inglenook hearth rebuilt in C17 and
inserted floor to hall. Side purlin roof with wind braces and
original plaster between rafters. Edge halved and bridled scarf
joint with key peg in 'arcade' plate to north.
