Farmhouse. Probably C18 with mid-C19 alterations. Sandstone rubble with
rendered finish, limestone dressings, stone slate and Welsh slate roofs
and external end stacks with brick shafts. Rectangular parallel range
plan with main front facing south-south-east. Two storeys and attics.
South elevation has 1:1:1 windows, hipped roof two-storey mid-C19 canted
bays to either side of central cambered glazing bar sash; central porch
with canted sides, channelled piers and voussoirs and 2-centred depressed
central outer arch linking the two full-height bays, its cornice running
into strings dividing their storeys, entry via 6-panelled door beneath
fanlight; attached to left and right are low symmetrical wings, that to
left single storey with two glazing bar sashes, that to right has corres-
ponding blind windows over cellar; rear elevation has two projecting wings
with cambered openings and some 2- and 3-light C18 or early C19 casements,
between the wings is a narrow light running through two storeys, probably
serving the stairs; west gables each have a 2-light attic casement with 2-
centred head. East gable of low wing has tallet stairs rising on falling
ground from south to central ledged door under cambered head, beneath this
door is another to cellar. Interior said to contain heavy chamfered ceiling
beams to principal rear rooms; low wing to east has three-bay roof, pegged
king-posts with angle struts to principals.
