17/2 Chapter House and Prior Close

Chapter House. Priory Close)

2 adjoining houses. C18, altered C19 and C20. Brick, old tile hipped roof. Rectangular
double depth plan. 2 storeys. Several chimneys with offset heads and clay pots. Moulded
wooden eaves cornice with modillions. Wooden casement windows with decorative lead
glazing. Entrance (west) front: 7 windows on first floor of 3, 2, 2, 1, 3, 2, 2 lights.
Ground floor: Chapter House: 2 entrance doors, on the left C20, part-glazed;on the right
a 4-panel, moulded and fielded door with reeded frieze and sidelights in a recessed
porch. 2 windows between, one a single light the other 3-light. Priory Close: an early
C20 6-panel entrance door with plain overlight. One 3-light window to left of door,
two, 2-light windows to right of door. Ladye Place adjoins on the south and is listed
separately, 17/3.
