War memorial. Circa 1919. According to the church guide it was designed by
the son of J. Oldrid Scott, architect of the church. Sandstone with bronze
plaques. Tall cross. A slender and slightly tapering shaft has chamfered
corners enriched with 4-leaf motifs. Moulded cap with cross above with small
fleur-de-lys in the angles. Base of shaft has small gabled buttresses. Shaft
stands on an octagonal pedestal with a chamfered top carved with a prayer.
Corners have Gothic panels carved with sacred symbols and main sides have
brass plaques. The east one honours the dead of the First World War and the
other 3 list the dead of the parish with their rank and regiment. It stands
on a 3-step plinth.
