Probably a C15 hall house with service end demolished in late C16 and cross-wing
built, and chimney inserted at same time. Purlin and windbrace roofs with some
re-used, smoke-blackened timbers. Front shows gabled cross-wing at left, of
2 storeys and attic, 1 window; and 2-storey, 5-window older right part. Compound
ridge stack. Tiled roof, that of cross-wing very high pitched. Tile hung 1st
floor, brick ground floor. Modern casements. C17 and modern rear additions.
Inside much exposed timber and altered inglenook. 2 Jacobean fireplaces in
cross-wing.
