1900 by W.F. Unsworth. Substantial and sensitive house, carefully recalling mediaeval
solidity and enclosure. Two storeys. Wide 2-bay centre. Projecting cross-gabled
right wing with pent extension forming porch. Door with elaborate ironwork reached
by flight of steps against side of house with stone outer wall. Ground floor of
snecked freestone. Tiled 1st floor has pronounced bellcast above coving. Small
leaded casements, up to 5 lights, in oak frames. Steep tiled roof with swept eaves
over deep soffit; and tall central chimney in C17 style with rebated angles. Projecting
2-bay left wing with idiosyncratic round tower in angle having a swept conical
roof and spike. Blank one-storey left extension from this wing.
