Pair of large semi-detached houses. c1857. Red brick in
Flemish bond, ashlar sandstone dressings and Welsh slate roof.
Paired symmetrical facades, but differing returns.
EXTERIOR: 2 storeys with cellars and attics. Each house has
3-window range with central entrance. Projecting porch with
paired Doric columns surmounted by dies linked by balustrading
(now missing in No.463). Part-glazed doors with overlight and
architrave. Outer bays are set forward, each with pedimented
gable over. Tripartite sash windows to ground floor, with
stone pilasters and entablature. 4-pane sash windows in
moulded stone architrave in each bay above, the central window
set in a recessed panel. Continuous stone sill-band. Moulded
eaves cornice continues round pedimented gables. Return
elevation to No.463 of 2 bays, with pedimented gable to left
with similar pattern of fenestration to main elevation, and
small window in tympanum. 4-pane sash window on each floor in
right hand bay. Return elevation to No.465 has 3 storeyed,
3-window range wing set forward to right with central canted
bay window. End and axial stacks.
