House. Late medieval open-hall and C17-extensions to west and south, the
latter forming a crosswing. Floor and stack inserted into the open hall.
Timber-framed, part exposed, and part rendered, and tiled roofs with ridge
stack at junction of open hall and crosswing to the south. C17 external
stack between south and west wings. Open hall of two bays with through
passage at north end. Two storeys. Floor inserted in C17. Studwork and
downward wall bracing. Modern fenestration. Crosswing of four bays. Two
storeys and attic. Exposed framing of close studwork and downward bracing.
Restored original window openings. Two leaded light casements, one with
original mullions and a hung sash at first floor. Four leaded light
casements at ground floor. Interior: open hall has crown-post roof with four
way upward and downward bracing. The tie beam is arch braced and has ogee
moulding which is carried down the wall posts. The roof is wind braced, has
the mortices for a louvre, and is smoke blackened. The inserted ceiling in
the hall has a main beam with a moulding of a hollow and two ovolos. The
south crosswing has two rooms, each with the ceiling divided by intersecting
main beams. There is some reset early C17 panelling.
