Circa 1777 (Fitton and Wadsworth p 163). Built by Jedidiah Strutt who spent
the last years of his life here. A large stone house standing in embanked
grounds above the road. Main eastern elevation of symmetrical design. Ashlar,
slate roof. Two storeys. 2-3-2 sashes, the centre 3 slightly advanced under
cornice, ground floor with jalousies. Centre round-arched doorway, has entablature
with pilasters.
