1840. Railway surveyed by George Stephenson. Some evidence bridges designed
by Francis Thompson. Rusticated stone bridge with ashlar coping and quoins.
Elliptical arch has voussoirs, impost bands and a band (above arch) which
is carried on to cutting walls (qv 'General'). North parapet now replaced
by metal guard.
