House formerly farmhouse. Early C17 with C19 addition. Plastered cob walls.
Gable-ended thatch roof. 2 rendered rubble stacks, one axial, one at left gable-end
on projectng rendered rubble base.
Plan: originally probably 3-room-and-through-passage plan but lower end to right
seems to have been demolished or greatly reduced since the entrance is through a
porch forming a baffle entry in front of the hall stack with the original passage at
the right-hand end. The hall stack thus backs onto the passage and the inner room
is heated by a gable-end stack, which may be a C18 insertion. C19 outshut at rear
of hall and against left-hand end.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical 3-window front of mid-late C20 . 2-light
casements, one 3-light towards left-hand end on ground floor. Thatch roof porch
towards right-hand end with C20 plank and glazed door. Large outshut against left-
hand end and one against rear wall.
Interior: hall has open fireplace with chamfered and straight-cut stopped wooden
lintel. Roughly chamfered cross beams. Inner room has fireplace with plain wooden
lintel and rough ceiling beams.
Roof: consists of straight principal rafters with threaded purlins and collars
halved one - the timbers are slightly darkened but it is unlikely to be smoke-
blackening since the construction suggests a date no earlier than early C17.
