Whilst the frontage of Millaton House still exhibits a pleasing symmetry, and the grounds still host several magnificent specimen trees, the rear of the building tells a rather different and sadder story.
Against the fine sweeping, rubble stone wall against whose south side stood a now sadly demolished orangery, there are a huddle of unsightly service buildings. Recent improvements have left the roof a patchwork of mismatched slates, with a satellite dish, four non heritage style velux windows and a hideous stainless steel chimney- none of which have done anything to improve the overall aspect of the building.
All this calls into question the listing status and the effigaciy of the listed building planning process.

Mrs Rose Dugard, 10 December 2016
