Gateway, wall and
railings to North Traine

GV II

Railings on dwarf wall, gateway, boundary wall. Late C19. Rendered rubble and
cast iron. Set of railings with fleur-de-lys terminals, full width of property,
connecting to colonnade of Middle Traine (qv) left, and gateway right. Railings
set to dwarf wall with bold ogee-curve coping; at right end, at an angle,
gateway with grooved rendering containing arched opening to keystone and a good
2-panel round-headed door. Above moulded cornice 3 blocking pieces in Greek
style. Joining gateway to front of house a short length of wall c.2 m high,
grooved and surmounted by c.600 mm curved cast iron railing. The walling to the
right of the gateway is not of special interest. These elements important to
the ensemble here in the street.
