11/85 Brook Cottage

GV II

House, formerly a pair of cottages. Probably C18, remodelled in circa C19
and/or C20. Painted slate rubble. Asbestos slate roof with gabled ends.
Gable end stacks, the right hand and heightened in red brick; the left hand
has large tall stone rubble shaft with set-offs and weathered cap with
yellow clay pot.
Plan: Either a 2-room plan house with gable end stacks converted into a
pair of cottages in circa C19 and reunited into one house in C20 or
alternatively a pair of 1-room plan cottages originally converted into one
house probably in C2O.
Exterior: 2 storeys. Asymmetrical front, 2 windows on first floor and 3
windows on ground floor. First floor has 2 circa late C19 or early C20 2-
light casements with glazing bars and slate sills. Ground floor has circa
late C19 3-light casements with glazing bars to left and right, circa late
C19 2-light casement in blocked doorway to right of centre and C20 glazed
door to left of centre with C20 canopy. Rear elevation not inspected.
Interior: Not inspected but fireplaces said to be blocked and ceiling beams
replaced with C20 joists.
