Ruins of supposedly Norman, 2-chamber church, nave probably much rebuilt over centuries, Chancel rebuilt in late 19th century as burial aisle. NAVE: rubble walls, few architectural features remain. Round-arched door to W, several blocked openings.
CHANCEL: rubble walls, largely rebuilt as Maxwells of Monreith burial aisle in later 19th century (though in use as burial place before this) when Romanesque style doorway was added. Polished red sandstone round-arched portal with chevron, heraldic and nail-head decoration. Good graded slate roofs, end skews. Sandstone ridge.
INTERIOR: red quarry tile floor. Decorative hammerbeam timber roof. Wall plaques pertaining to Maxwell Family.
CHURCHYARD: rubble walled churchyard containing good 18th and 19th century gravestones.
