Ruins, to wallhead, of church, situated in centre of graveyard, with burial enclosure and gravestones.
ROOFLESS RUIN - Scheduled Monument 3 March 1999.
CHURCH: rectangular-plan church; square-plan wing to N, forming L-plan. Rubble; some sandstone dressings. Overgrown (1992). Wing to N originally 2-storey, with gallery above and burial vault for Agnews of Lochnaw below. Doorway to N to wing, with chamfered sandstone margin; relieving arch over. Mullioned and transomed window above in gablehead. Apparently carved panel between, dated "1644", and bearing
Latin inscription and 2 coats of arms (overgrown, 1992). Small
vaulted chamber adjoined to SE. Gabled building adjacent to E;
doorway to N; concrete barrel-vaulted roof.
GRAVEYARD: 18th and 19th century headstones.
BURIAL ENCLOSURE: circa 1800. Burial enclosure of Agnew family of Lochnaw. Situated to N, interrupting graveyard wall. Limewashed rubble. Ashlar dressings; coping, quoin strips and margins. Flat coping to wallhead. Pedimented W elevation, flattened at apex; blind oculus in ashlar tympanum; ball finial on concave stalk to left, missing to right; doorway at centre, with iron gate; flanking margined panels, bearing inscriptions.
