Listing Text

Mid 18th century. 3-storey, T-plan building with 3-storey, 3-bay frontage to Harbour Place and 2-storeys to Sheriffs Brae. Modern harl, painted tooled ashlar margins to Harbour Place, rendered and painted elsewhere.
HARBOUR PLACE FRONTAGE: circa 1970 keystoned, ashlar margined round-headed arch with blocked imposts in centre of ground floor with flanking windows with shutter hooks surviving in margins; regular fenestration elsewhere with modern plate glass glazing.
SHERIFFS BRAE FRONTAGE: doorway in re-entrant angle of 2-storey L-plan range with irregular fenestration. Coped end stacks; slate roof.

Notes:
Customs House originally of 2-storey height, raised circa 1800. Tuskers in S return gable indicate former adjacent building, possibly the neighbouring ruinous 2-storey warehouse was originally a storey higher. Ground floor windows originally protected with shutters.
Centre archway in Harbour Place frontage designed in Banff traditional pend entrance style. Neighbouring Harbour House raised from former single storey warehouse and not included in listing.
