Listing Text

John Rhind, 1878. Ornate late gothic drinking fountain with crown head. Polished and tooled ashlar. Crocketted corona supported by squat cluster columns and linked at 4 corners to stumpy facetted columns (formerly supporting pinnacles) linked by short flying buttresses; all assembled on square base with cluster column angles and inscribed plaques; shallow stepped base.

Notes:
Inscription reads 'Presented to the Town of Banff in memory of Walter Biggar Esq. and Mrs. Anne Duff, his wife. 1878.' Walter Biggar was involved with the herring trade. Biblical inscriptions on E and W panels.
