W N Thomson of Leith, 1897. 2-storey nearly rectangular-plan freestyle house. Squared and snecked red sandstone with polished ashlar dressings. Base course; broad dividing band course; overhanging eaves; 1st floor windows breaking eaves in stylized round-arched and triangular pediments; stone mullioned bipartite windows; later dormer windows break roof to SW and to NE.
SE (ENTRANCE) ELEVATION: 3-bay. Squat tapering columns mounted on pair of projecting walls support an open pedimented porch; timber panelled door with single window immediately to right; canted window to centre, lights to 2 faces only; bipartite window to 1st floor above; bipartite windows to both floors of flanking bays; turreted single storey projection with 2-light window to right corner.
Leaded panes in canted window; leaded stained glass in window to right of door; 2-pane timber sash and case, small-pane upper sashes, to all other windows. Grey slate timber roof, swept at eaves; corniced stacks; cast-iron rainwater goods.
BOUNDARY WALLS: polished sandstone ashlar gateposts with scrolled ball finials surmounting. Planked timber gates with wrought iron panels. Coped rubble sandstone boundary walls to street. Mansard-roofed garage to W, converted from stables (1911).
