Exterior

Sandstone chest tomb dated 1612, with shallow-relief heraldic carving and simple strapwork-derived decoration; moulded cornice and base. Around the rim of the raised tombstone is a memorial inscription in raised letters to 'HUMFRIDVS HOLLAND' (of Teyrdan) d.1612. Inscribed later on the tombstone is a memorial inscription to Thomas Holland Esq of Teirdan, d.1683 and one to John Holland d.1718.

Immediately N of the chest tomb is a low sandstone tombstone with incised memorial inscription to Jane Price, wife of Thomas Holland (see above), who died in 1673.

Reasons for Listing

Listed for its special interest as a good early C17 chest tomb and for group value with other listed items at St Elian's Church.
