History

Large C17 or C18 2-span road bridge.

Exterior

Of rubble construction, with full-height central cutwaters to upstream and downstream sides; the bridge has been doubled in width to S. Segmental arches of equal size (each of roughly 8m) with roughly-dressed voussoirs slightly recessed below archrings formed of narrow stones. Long approaches, splayed outwards slightly at the ends, with slab-coped rubble parapets rising gently at the bridge's apex; triangular refuges over cutwaters on each side.

Reasons for Listing

Included at Grade II* as a particularly fine 2-span bridge of sub-medieval character.
