Capel-y-Ffinn is a beautifully rural location and both its chapels have quiet atmospheres
about them, probably enhanced by their valley setting with the neighbouring mountains.

There are 2 chapels in this tiny hamlet whose name in Welsh means "chapel at the boundary", St. Marys Chapel is alongside the road and, surprisingly, is not included as a listed building. The present building was built in 1762 and replaced an earlier 15th C. building, it's internal size is only 26ft. x 13ft but it has a gallery to seat a few more.
Its Eastern window is the work of Eric Gill, artist/sculptor, who lived nearby at The Monastery(qv). Externally St.Mary's is whitewashed.

The Baptist Chapel is just down a path and across a bridge to the E. of St. Mary's. This was built by 2 brothers in 1737 and is similar in size & shape to its neighbour.

If you are ever visiting Llanthony Abbey then travel the extra 3 or so miles up the valley, either by road or if time permits walk up along by the river.
