History

Pedestrian gate into Carmarthen Park, dated 1900.

Exterior

Pedestrian gate flanked by railings on dwarf stone walls between stone piers. Fairly simple wrought iron gates with plain uprights with finials and double horizontal bars at top and near bottom that continue at same level through flanking railings. Outer uprights of gate are scroll-topped and there are diagonal cross-braces with central roundel, and elegant catch. Inscription on attached plate: "This gate was presented by H.E. Richards Esq. of Picton Terrace, Carmarthen AD 1900." Gate posts are square-section and have urn finials. Short length of railings each side on dwarf limestone wall. Outer piers square in section, of grey dressed limestone with hipped cap stone.
