History

Probably c1816 and contemporary with the school, but altered after the school's closure in the 1870s.

Exterior

A single-storey lean-to built against the gable end of the former schoolmaster's house (No 2 Bunkers Hill), of rubble stone with brick dressings and grouted slate roof. On the L side are a pair of 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash windows inserted in an earlier opening, to the R of which is a small-pane window also inserted in an earlier opening. Next R is a doorway, then a whitened section of wall with 12-pane horizontal-sliding sash window.

Reasons for Listing

Listed for its special interest as an integral component of the former National School (Nos 7-9 Steeple Lane).
