9/7 No 52 (The Laurels) and Fairview

2 cottages, now house. C17, timber framed with brick infill,
mostly now rendered. Thatched roofs and brick stacks. Earlier
range parallel to street, 3-bays with clunch stack to centre bay,
later stacks to right hand end. Second house attached at right
angles towards street, 3-bays, stack to centre bay. Bay nearest
road possible addition. Facade C20 windows, raised dormer to
second house. Exposed framing to rear has straight corner braces.
Interior modernised, fireplace to second house with timber lintel.
Chamfered spine beams. Property was part of the Broad Town Charity
estate set up by Sarah, Duchess of Somerset, in 1686, recorded in
deeds.
