3/187 Lower retaining wall
and Fountain at St.
Catherines School

GV II

Retaining wall and drinking fountain. Circa 1870 . Random Bargate rubblestone
and blocks with ashlar lintels. Approximately 10 metres of wall, 1 metre high
to left and rising to 3 metres high to right. Steps up to main buildings at
ends, wall returns up the hill at the right end. Ogee-headed fountain set into
the wall to the right with stone basin. Smaller fountain below under stepped
arch inscribed "For dogs". Included for group value.
